Wisdom
Ridged spines
Encircling a core truth
A sapling- potential
Dizzied shapes and lines
Unbound and drowned
Swimmingly, they collect- a raft
Impoverished minds stand on snapping bones yet here we stand!
Right fist raised triumphant
Amidst a dark silky sea
The splendor of sunlight runs dry
And the mates twitch with thirst
Eye to eye the hope of virtue the glimpse of an end to drought
2 by 2 they fall or fight
The silence remains unacknowledged and trembling
The raft takes a deep inhale
Shaking the rags and human piles off itself
An old man is the only witness left
He had nearly been forgotten by the vessel
The meshed debris fights with a finality of twigged muscle to carry him to the horizon
At last, the ocean breeze brushes the hood from his lined forehead
Lifting his gaze he stands on the edge and without the
Faintest farewell the carriage collapses
Above, an angelic presence descends
Wiping the drops of salt from his neck and the golden air swells
Rays clash and rip the whitened sky
Drought screams without witness while
The silence merges with itself
And splendor returns
