My Son

Strength grits the lions teeth

In his jaw holds the power

Learn to fight but just as well learn to dance

Speak with calmness and fervor but not calamity.

Hold the world on your shoulders the way I hold you today.

Smell a woman but do not follow her trail.

Drink from only clean glasses. To test, gaze through them and see if the world is distorted or as it is.

Draw on your own natural heat and endurance but control the flames to only light the way.

As you walk, always listen for the sound of Earth beneath your feet. Count the crunches to understand who follows and why.

Make no promises on truth, but nevertheless toil with love in your chest.

On dark nights sit round with loved ones and care.

On full moons don’t be fooled by the clarity of night. Keep focus and tread on.

At last you may find a Sunday kind of Love.
